HAZCLASS® TRAINING COURSE DESCRIPTION
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS CLASSIFICATION TRAINING
HazClass Training (Hands-On Training)
Training at your facility for up to 20 hazmat personnel per day. ($1,500/class)
Course length is 8 hours per day. (1 day)
This class will provide the hazardous materials responder or technician the training to properly classify hazardous chemicals. The hands-on class will instruct students to apply the skills necessary to make informal decisions to comply with federal regulations and provide safety procedures for personal and public response duties.
The students will be instructed on the HazClass procedures determining air/water reactivity, solubility, corrosivity, oxidizers, flammability, cyanide/sulfide tests and other screening tests for hazardous substances. The class will cover the techniques for determining possible biological hazards when dealing with white powder incidents. Also covered are tests to indentify the presence of possible explosive precursors such as nitrate and perchlorate based explosive substances. This screening test will enable the determination of RCRA Hazardous Wastes (D001, D002, D003, and D004) and DOT/OSHA/GHS labeling requirements. The test will also aid in the determination of proper PPE, mitigation techniques, isolation techniques, and analytical laboratory methods.
The screening test procedures will cover testing solids, liquids, sludge's and mixtures. Interpretation of results and problems encountered will be extensively covered. Students will test common hazardous substances.
HazChem’s Hazclass Training Class will qualify for the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) Grants.
Travel expenses for two trainers not included in the price.
